Telluride Rotary 4×4 Tour July 24-26The 23rd Annual Telluride Rotary Club 4×4 Tours present unparalleled off-pavement action again this July. Appealing to 4×4 enthusiasts and novices alike, this family-friendly weekend provides guided tours of some of the most scenic and challenging trails in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, “The Switzerland of America. ” Famous trails include Governor Basin, Poughkeepsie Gulch and Imogene Pass. This event’s signature run is Black Bear Backwards, traversing the normally one-way trail uphill against gravity. Trails are chosen to suit everything from rental Jeeps (Dollar offers a Rotary 4×4 discount) to highly modified, dual-lockered 4x4s. All trips comply with the Tread Lightly! philosophy of responsible off-pavement travel. The Telluride 4×4 Tour is sponsored by Clemson 4-Wheel Center, allowing all proceeds to go into the Telluride Rotary Scholarship Fund. The tax-deductible $150 registration fee per vehicle (two occupants) includes a BBQ, a cocktail reception and goodie bags. Registration can be done online at www.tellurideticket.com. For more information, contact Telluride Rotary Club, www.telluride4x4.com, 888.605.2578, info@telluride4x4.com. The Clemson 4-Wheel Center/ Telluride Rotary 4×4 Tour — which often attracts national media coverage — is limited to 50 vehicles.
