Jason Scherer Takes Third Place At The 2011 King Of The Hammers

Jason Scherer, supported by Trail Master Suspension, took third place at the 2011 King Of The Hammers Race last week.

Scherer started in 35th position and managed to lead the race at several points throughout the day. During a section of the course that put them onto a flat dry-lake bed, Scherer and Shannon Campbell, who eventually took first place, were racing side by side at 120 miles per hour. “It was the most fun I’ve ever had,” says Scherer.

Later, the rear axle pinion failed on Scherer’s race car, but he managed to finish in third place, all while in front-wheel drive. “I’m very grateful to Trail Master Suspension, including Steve Rezek, Chris Faustmann and Tony Morse, who helped me out in the pits and worked on our vehicle’s suspension,” he says. “PSC also helped me out all week and despite a third place finish, we’re already planning and looking forward to this race again in 2012.”

This is the fifth running of the King Of The Hammers, one of the most grueling and difficult off-road races that combines high-speed desert racing with technical rock-crawling. A field of 100 racers come from all over the world to compete, but the race has an attrition rate of only 50 percent.
