Fewer visitors means fewer funds collected from the Recreation Permit Sales. These funds pay for emergency medical personnel, pit toilet maintenance and trash dumpster service

There are families that have made this a tradition for the last thirty years. Wickedmag.com had a chance to interview some of these families while filming the Glamis Report; the DVD is a documentary of a typical holiday weekend. The dunes can be a busy place, however considering the amount of law enforcement in recent years. It has become a much safer environment.
