The Pirate looks to take a Plueger Ship for a spin!

Team owner and driver of the vintage nitro Funny Car Camaro “Jolly Rogers”, Todd “The Pirate” Lesenko has committed to join three time nostalgia Funny Car Champion Steve Plueger to pilot a Plueger Racing vintage nitro Funny Car at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals October 29-31, 2010. As the NHRA Heritage Series combines efforts with NHRA Professional Drag Racing it is only natural that teams expand from vintage to professional racing for additional sponsor exposure, fan interaction and team exposure.

Todd shared, “We are expanding Jolly Rogers racing in 2011 and are looking at many different opportunities and options. Steve Plueger has proven his ability to succeed and dominate in vintage nitro Funny Car racing which makes working with him in one fashion or another a sensible move.”

Rumors have been flying that Jolly Rogers’ Pirate is eyeing a professional NHRA team as well as running for the NHRA Heritage Series nitro Funny Car points championship; following this weekend look for big announcements from the Jolly Rogers camp.
