UNI-SELECT AUTO PLUS TO SPONSOR NHRA FULL THROTTLE SERIES EVENT AND BECOME OFFICIAL AUTO PARTS STORE OF ATLANTA DRAGWAY
NHRA announced today that Uni-Select and its Auto Plus® network of automotive retail stores has signed a multi-year agreement to become the title rights sponsor of the 27th annual Uni-Select Auto Plus NHRA Nationals at scenic Maple Grove Raceway, and the Official Auto Parts Store of Atlanta Dragway, an NHRA-owned and operated facility in Commerce, Ga.
The Uni-Select Auto Plus NHRA Nationals, Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2011, is the third of six races in the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship, NHRA’s playoff-style format to determine the world champions in each of its four Full Throttle Series classes. The popular Reading, Pa. race will be televised on ESPN2 HD.
As the Official Auto Parts Store of Atlanta Dragway, Uni-Select Auto Plus will receive track signage and promotional rights along with hospitality during the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event held at the facility May 13-15.
“We are pleased to form this long-term relationship with NHRA,” said Brent Windom, Uni-Select vice president North American Marketing and Product Development. “The Auto-Plus® network of automotive retail stores continues to expand across the country, and this strategic partnership will help us strengthen key customer relationships in important markets, and reinforce with professional technicians and DIYers that Auto-Plus is their trusted source of automotive parts and accessories from the industry’s leading suppliers.”
This is the first involvement in NHRA for Uni-Select Auto Plus.
“We are pleased to welcome Uni-Select Auto Plus into the NHRA family of sponsors,” said Tony Driscoll, vice president of sales and business development, NHRA. “This is a unique two-pronged sponsorship that we feel will help Uni-Select Auto Plus achieve its marketing objectives. We look forward to working with the company and helping it maximize its title-rights sponsorship in Pennsylvania and official sponsorship in Georgia.”
It is also the first sponsorship relationship for Uni-Select with Maple Grove Raceway, which has hosted NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events since 1985.
“We’re happy to add Auto Plus to our family of sponsors,” said Maple Grove vice president/general manager Lex Dudas. “Auto Plus will have a presence at the track on a year-round basis and will be the official parts store of Maple Grove Raceway. They’re involvement will include our E.T. racing program up to the Uni-Select Auto Plus NHRA Nationals.”
